Additional Information Clint Smith

In his eight years of legislative service, Clint Smith was consistently endorsed by Georgia Right to Life and the National Rifle Association. Annually, Clint Smith received 100% scores from the Christian Coalition and the National Federation of Independent Business.
An author and historian, Smith wrote a faith-based novel entitled, FAITH AND THE FORMULA. Currently, he is working on a second novel.
Clint Smith is a member of First Redeemer Baptist Church in Cumming, Georgia and he is engaged to Cammie Connell of Marietta, Georgia. Clint Smith has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Georgia State University, where he served as Chairman of the College Republicans and an associate degree in Airway Science from the Community College of the Air Force.

1. Never voted for a tax increase

2. Fought for fiscal responsibility and reform in Georgia’s budgetary process

3. Supported the original sales tax holiday for families purchasing school items

4. Clint Smith was one of three sponsors of a bill that completely overhauled the welfare system in Georgia. The legislation implemented provisions to ensure that benefit recipients are making progress toward self-sufficiency.

5. Supported legislation that eliminated the sales tax on groceries

6. Supported legislation that created the opportunity for citizens to vote to implement Special Local Option Sales Taxes, dedicated to school construction projects, thus providing tax relief for property owners.

7. Co-sponsor of the primary seat belt law in Georgia

8. Point man in Georgia for President George W. Bush’s Faith-Based Initiative (Chairman of the Georgia Faith-Based Initiatives Task Force during Governor Sonny Perdue’s administration. (Current Secretary of the U.S. Agriculture)
